Superb sculpture! This is really an excellent piece to debut your work on DA (welcome, btw!). I particularly like the design of the legs & the incorporation of the winding-staffs. I imagine you bought these pieces in bulk, as it would be an incredible amount of work removing that many staffs out of assembled watches!

Nice work! How long did it take you to assemble?

cheers :D. In total we did it twice because the first set of glue didnt hold (ended up using superglue which was probably silly of us not to use in the first place but meh) in total it took an afternoon / evening and then most of the following day.

Lol! Well, at least you got it finished in the end! ^_^
Good job by the way!

Ever thought of making a dragon like that?

Thanks :)

Actually a dragon would be really neat, that might have to go on the list of future projects. Watch this space!

European Dragon or Oriental Dragon? ?_?

I do European ones(drawings only). My few attempts at making a figurine or statuette of one have failed, either due to lack of skill or lack of materials(and of money to acquire more. >.<)

Well personally, my preference would be European. I like that they're a bit meatier, and I love the idea of a big ole pair of wings on it.

Obviously, we're doing this stuff as a duo, so we'd have to reach some agreement between ourselves.

We'd probably end up looking at the parts we have and seeing what springs to our imagination. I take some of the parts out of watches myself, but we also bulk buy parts, and you never really know what you're gonna get. Sometimes its a case of looking at the pieces you've got and seeing what you can do with em.

I've tried sculpting with clay and stuff like that, it never really works out well for me!

Btw, took a little look at your gallery. There's some decent drangon work there, I particularly like the 2 skull ones. Also the wire sculpture WIP looked promising - Did you ever finish it? (apologies if its in there somewhere and I missed it)

"I've tried sculpting with clay and stuff like that, it never really works out well for me!"

If you'd like to try some digital sculpting, the program I use is called "Sculptris" and it is both free and easy to use! ^_^
The one who introduced me to it is :iconatomicterrier:, you should see some of his work! He does a lot more fantasy work with it then I do.

By "the 2 skull ones" do you mean "Dragon skull" and "Golden Dragon Skull - 2"? They were originally one and the same, but I was told the original was too dark to see easily so I opened it in Photoshop, zoomed way in, and proceeded to paint the background white so it would show up better. =P

As to the wire one... No, it still sits incomplete on my front porch. I ran out of materials and didn't have the money to get more.

Cool, I might have to try that after I finish my degree next week and regain my life!

Yes, I did mean those 2, apologies for being a bit vague. I assumed that as they are both submitted you intended for them to be viewed as seperate pieces. Personally, I don't really think the original is too dark. I think I prefer it. The lines are cleaner than the other version, although against the white background it has a kind of X-ray feel somehow. Both are effecive in different ways.

shame about the wire sculpture. Maybe one day you'll stumble upon some more materials and you can do a bit more, That'd be cool.
